Huntly Mine Disaster
Hi. I'm Julie, and today i'm going to teach you about the huntly mine disaster.
On the 12th of september of 1914, 60 men were at work at the mine. Normally on weekdays there are 200 and 50 people at work. At 7.oh 2 an explosion went off. The explosion was caused by a miners naked acetylene cap-lamp igniting something (methane gas given off by coal). The fire made the rescue very hard. Some people tried to escape through the air vents, while some tried to escape through the cages used to transport miners up and down the shaft.

Polish refugees land in New Zealand
Polish Refugees land in New Zealand
When The kids were on the trains and they stopped off at the stations the kiwi's would give them ice cream and lollies but they didn't know what those things were and since they didn't speak english they couldn't ask what they were.
Over 800 refugees were taken to Wellington in 1944 to escape the Europe wars. 102 of them were adults and 733, children.
A camp for the children, Little Poland, was made for them.
Germany's invasion of the Soviet Union in 1941 made Joseph Stalin send over 120000 Polish prisoners to Iran where they were grown weaker and weaker in refugee camps.
In 1943 Peter Fraser (The Prime Minister) let a group of polish children to New Zealand for the time of the war.

Chief Justice declares treaty 'worthless' and a 'simple nullity
Chief Justice declares treaty 'worthless' and a 'simple nullity
The Treaty of Waitangi was ‘worthless’ because it had been signed ‘between a civilised nation and a group of savages’ who were not capable of signing a treaty. The judge did not take any notice that the land belonged to the Maori people and still did not give the land back. The people wanted to build a school on the block of land but they had to put a church in the place.

'Anti-terror' raids in Urewera
'Anti-Terror' Raids In Urewera.
On the 15th of October 2007, eighteen people were arrested for raiding a weapons-training camp. A man named Iti was taken to trail along with three others on February 2012, but the jury couldn't decide on the former charge, but all four were found guilty. In 2013 the Independent Police Conduct Authority found out that the police had frightened and intimidated people during the raids. A year later in 2013, Mike Bush, a Police Commissioner apologised for what he had done.Friday, 27 September 2019

Camp Cooking Reflection
Today in The Great Outdoors we made pancakes with the edmund's pancake mix. To make it you need to add water up to the line that says 'FILL TO THIS LINE'. Then you shake the bottle until there is no powder left. This will make nice pancakes that will hopefully keep you alive for the next day or two. This is a link to my slideshow.
